Alex Galchenyuk has officially signed with SKA Saint Petersburg of the KHL as he is set to start fresh following his arrest in July.

Alex Galchenyuk’s career in the NHL may be over but his hockey playing days are not done yet.

Galchenyuk has signed a two-year contract with SKA Saint Petersburg of the KHL, the team announced Friday.

The 29-year-old originally signed with the Coyotes on July 1 but his contract was terminated following his arrest on July 9 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The charges brought against Galchenyuk included private property hit and run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, and threatening or intimidating.

While he pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor threatening charge, the other five charges were dropped.

Galchenyuk played 11 seasons in the NHL for Montreal Canadiens, Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche. He tallied a total of 146 goals, 208 assists and 354 points in 654 career games.

Now Galchenyuk gets a fresh start in the KHL, marking a new beginning for the 2012 third overall pick.
