The Utah HC head coach spoke with the media Friday about balancing minutes for the blue line with the long-term absence of Sean Durzi.
Andre Tourigny has spoken at length about the Utah Hockey Club having to weather some adversity.
They certainly have had their fair share of it, with defenceman Sean Durzi likely gone for the season with an upper-body injury that will require surgery, as reported yesterday.
What's more, defenceman John Marino is now "months away" from playing, Tourigny said, and that makes balancing the minutes for the blue-liners critical, he added after practice Friday at the Olympic Oval.
With that, Tourigny added he wants to see consistency, especially after giving up 19 goals in the first five games, despite winning three of them.
Two of the players he highlighted, however, are starting to find their form in Michael Kesselring and rookie Vladislav Kolyachanok.
Tourigny said the two youngsters have "all the tools" to become great defencemen in the league, and Kesselring's was on full display in Anaheim, where he jumped into a rush to score his first goal of the year.
Those tools will be critical against a skilled and physical Boston Bruins team that will face Utah tomorrow night at Delta Center.
"At the end of the day, it comes down to who's in the lineup," Tourigny said. "We've got to set up the lineup so they can play at their full potential."
