Well its finally happened Utah Hockey Club Fans.

Playing the LA Kings in Utah's first game back from the 4-Nations Break, Barrett Hayton got the Club's first ever hat trick in franchise history and the first of his NHL career.

"I like the fact that he got rewarded. I often talk about how much Hayts plays the right way and does everything right on and off the ice... You can't not cheer for him, so really happy for him," said coach André Tourigny.

Down 2-4 midway through the third, Hayton found himself near LA goalie Darcy Kuemper, corralled the puck off a rebound, and shot it into the back of the net.

While this goal forced Hayton to stretch his stick all the way back out, Hayton has capitalized on positioning himself in the blue paint all game.

In the first period, scored the first goal of the game for either team after a well placed stick deflected a Nick Schmaltz shot attempt underneath Kuemper's legs.

It was Hayton who created the power-play opportunity for Utah in the first place, after he forced Quinton Byfield to trip him to prevent what would have been a wide-open goal. Despite Byfield's efforts, Hayton scored just a few seconds later while sitting in the penalty box.

That wouldn't be the only time Hayton would find himself scoring on a power play.

Yet again, in the second period, Hayton was rewarded for positioning himself by LA's goal.

Although this goal occurred in the second period, the play was reminiscent of his hat trick goal because he was able to quickly rebound the puck off of Kuemper's pads.

Ultimately though, Hayton and Utah wasn't able to overcome the two goal deficit it faced in the third.

After emptying the net with under two minutes to go, Kings defenseman Mikey Anderson scored on the empty net to go up 5-3 and secure the win.

"I thought we left it all out there, played with good pace. Just a couple plays that cost us tonight. Obviously it was a one-goal game, and down the stretch here, there's gonna be a lot of those games," said Hayton.

Though a win would have been preferred for Utah and its fans, especially with a playoff-level matchup against the Vancouver Canucks tomorrow, it’s still worth celebrating the accomplishment Hayton made for the franchise.
