The ear-splitting noise from the record-setting crowd of 16,020 at Delta Center told the story.
But the Utah Hockey Club's 5-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks last night was more than just the fans alone.
As head coach Andre Tourigny said, the leadership on the bench during Chicago's comeback attempt played key down the stretch.
The Blackhawks trimmed what was a 3-0 deficit to just a one-goal game with 15 minutes left, but the club seemed to get stronger after the goal, peppering Chicago goaltender Petr Mrazek with multiple good scoring chances.
On the opposite end, goaltender Connor Ingram, winner of the Masterton Trophy for perseverance last season, made several key saves to keep Utah afloat, including shutting down Taylor Hall on a breakaway chance.
It did come with some luck, too; the Blackhawks struck the goalpost or crossbar four times, along with missing some grade-A chances of their own.
But in the end, the fans are what lifted the Utah Hockey Club to victory on this night.
Those fans packed the plaza for a concert, food trucks, a player walk-in, and more over four hours prior to puck drop, then proceeded to fill up the Delta Center less than 30 minutes after the doors opened.
Clayton Keller called it a "whole other level" from the pre-season opener, while Dylan Guenther said it was a "playoff atmosphere", and Tourigny added it was a "huge boost of energy".
When you put these three things together, it makes for one unforgettable night, just as owners Ryan and Ashley Smith wanted.
It makes you wonder, now, too: if this is the sign of what's to come, this season may be something special -- more than we could have ever dreamed of.
Welcome to the NHL, Utah.
