    Trading season has officially begun.

The Arizona Coyotes have acquired defenseman Sean Durzi from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick.

The 24-year-old defenseman tallied nine goals, 29 assists and 38 points last season for the Kings.

Durzi was drafted 52nd overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs but was traded to Los Angeles on Jan. 28, 2019 in a deal that involved defenseman Jake Muzzin.

So far, Durzi has played a total of 136 games in the NHL over two seasons where he produced 12 goals, 53 assists and 65 points.

Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong feels Durzi will be a valuable addition for the team.

"Sean is a reliable two-way defenseman who has good vision and contributes offensively," said Armstrong. "He will be a very good addition to our blue line and we look forward to having him on our roster this season."

This move makes perfect sense for Arizona. It seems the Coyotes are trying to take a big step in their rebuild and compete next season. The addition of Durzi will help bolster Arizona’s blueline immediately while at only 24-years-old, he still fits the team’s young approach.

Acquiring Durzi could be the first of many moves for the Coyotes before the draft which begins on June 28.
