The Arizona Coyotes were able to reach a two-year settlement with center Jack McBain on the same day his arbitration hearing was supposed to be.

The Arizona Coyotes have reached a two-year settlement with center Jack McBain worth $1.6 million a year.

McBain’s arbitration hearing was scheduled for today but the two parties were able to settle on a new deal in the nick of time.

The 23-year-old center played all 82 games for Arizona this past season tallying 12 goals, 14 assists and 26 points.

“We are very pleased to sign Jack to a new contract,” said Armstrong. “He is a big, strong, physical center who led our team in hits last season and contributed offensively. We look forward to having him back on our roster this season.”

Securing a new contract with McBain is huge for the Coyotes as the team now has a solid young core of centers for next season that also includes Logan Cooley and Barrett Hayton.

McBain is a multi-dimensional forward that is capable of contributing offensively but is also not afraid to play a physical role and put his body on the line for the team.

In his second full season with the Coyotes, expect to see more growth from McBain and maybe even more hits.
