The Arizona Coyotes add more depth offensively with the addition of forward Alexander Kerfoot.

The Arizona Coyotes have agreed to terms with center Alexander Kerfoot on a two-year contract worth $3.5 million a year according to PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan.

The 28-year-old played 82 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs this past season where he had 10 goals, 22 assists and 32 points.

Over his six-year career as a member of the Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche, Kerfoot has 74 goals, 145 assists and 219 points.

Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong is looking forward to adding Kerfoot’s skillset to the team.

“He’s a good move for us,” Armstrong said. “He's somebody that can come in play left wing, take draws, play the PK, play the PP. He's really a glue guy for us and he was a big signing for us along with Zucker. He provides something different. Sometimes when you have young centerman that can come into the game he can project them and just really he's a guy that you can just count on. As a coach you love this guy because he kind of gives you what you need to help you win.”

While Armstrong invisions Kerfoot as a potential third liner, he also knows Kerfoot will have an opportunity to move his way up in the lineup and carve out an even bigger role.

“I mean somewhere around the third line,” Armstrong said on where Kerfoot may be slotted in the lineup. “But maybe he gets an opportunity and proves himself to play second line. That's the great thing about the Yotes. I mean, I don't think he really cares where he plays, he just wants to win but I think there's opportunity for him to play during the season higher in the lineup.”

Kerfoot is one of many of Armstrong’s moves today that suggest the team is looking to compete for a playoff spot next season. This could be the start of a new era for Coyotes hockey.
