The Arizona Coyotes have selected left winger Daniil But with the 12th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
The 18-year-old Russian forward played 26 games for Loko Yaroslavl of the MHL this past season where he had 15 goals, 11 assists and 26 points.
Similar to the Coyotes sixth overall selection, the team went off the board again by selecting But as he was ranked the No. 32 prospect by The Hockey News’ Ryan Kennedy.
Standing at 6’5’’, But has the potential to be a matchup problem for opposing teams once he is ready to take the jump to the NHL.
“His large stature and unique skillset make him an attractive winger, drawing attention with his ability to play with the puck off of the wall. He has nice outside-in skill, allowing him to beat defenders inside and force his way to the net,” Jake Janso of FC Hockey wrote.
But is expected to play for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL next season with the Coyotes No. 6th pick Dmitri Simashev.
