

The Arizona Coyotes ended the preseason off with a bang defeating the Anaheim Ducks 7-1 Saturday afternoon in Tucson.
It was a full group effort for the Coyotes on Sunday as nearly every player impacted the game in some facet.
Both of Arizona’s newly acquired defenseman Matt Dumba and Sean Durzi played crucial roles. Dumba put on a clinic tallying one goal, two assists and three points while Durzi contributed with one goal.
Logan Cooley picked up right where he left off from the Coyotes last preseason game on Thursday finding the back of the net once again, ending yesterday with one goal and one assist.
Other Coyotes players to score yesterday includes Lawson Crouse, Nick Bjugstad, Liam O’Brien and Jack McBain.
The Coyotes have made it a tradition to play in Tucson every preseason, a city that hosts the team’s AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners.
“One of the things that when we began having conversations, we said and this really came from Alex Morello, the owner, he wanted to do what was best for our fans and one of those things that was very top of mind was Tucson needed to be a market that was fully covered,” Coyotes president Xavier Gutierrez said.
“We wanted the reach, we wanted the engagement. This is a hockey town down here in Tucson and we're doing more and more as you know, being down here in the community, engaging with the University of Arizona, and everything that we do is always about how we can make an impact? How can we make a difference, and make sure that our games that are premium and compelling, are able to be seen over the air here in this market?”
Arizona ended the preseason with a 4-5 record and had a lot of positive notes to take away through nine preseason games.
The Coyotes travel to the Meadowland to face off against the New Jersey Devils on October 13 for the team’s season opener.
