We are officially in the dog days of the summer and NHL offseason.

The Arizona Coyotes have been quiet since their flurry of signings on July 1. However, general manger Bill Armstrong is still working as he re-signed forward Nathan Smith to a one-year, two-way contract on Saturday.

The 24-year-old spent most of his time this past season with the Coyotes AHL affiliate the Tucson Roadrunners, playing a total of 64 games where he had 12 goals, 15 assists and 27 points.

"We are pleased to sign Nate to a contract extension," Armstrong said. "He played well in Tucson last season and continues to develop. We look forward to having him back."

While Smith was originally drafted by the Winnipeg Jets with the 91st overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, he was traded to Arizona on March 21, 2023.

Smith has played 14 games over a two-year span for the Coyotes tallying two goals, two assists and four points.
