Arizona Coyotes goalie prospect Michael Hrabal helps lead Team Czechia to a 3-2 victory over Canada in the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship quarterfinal game.
Hrabal finished the game with 28 saves as he propelled Czechia to the semifinals where they will have an opportunity to compete for a medal.
Team Canada has won a medal in each of the last four World Junior Tournaments, three of them being gold so beating them is a major accomplishment.
The Coyotes selected Hrabal in the second round of the 2023 NHL Draft, boosting their goaltending prospect pool.
Through the World Juniors, Hrabal continues to show high potential and the sort of impact he can make on the Coyotes one day in the future.
Both Maveric Lamoureux and Conor Geekie, two Coyotes’ first-round picks, played for Canada. Lamoureux was actually one of Canada’s top three players ending the tournament with one goal, two assists and three points.
Hrabal and Czechia will play on Thursday in the semifinals against Finland in hopes to secure a spot in the championship game.
