After another failed land auction attempt, Arizona Coyotes' owner Alex Meruelo is dissolving the franchise within a month

As reported by former Arizona Coyotes reporter Craig Morgan, all signs point to Coyotes' owner Alex Meruelo walking away from the ownership of the team.

Although they aren't an active team currently, the NHL has allowed them to make a comeback to the NHL once they get their ducks in a row.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that will be happening after the Arizona State Land Department decides to cancel an auction on Thursday.

As per reports, Meruelo told the remaining members of his staff of his plan to dissolve what is left of the franchise within a month.

The team's name and logo will be returned to the NHL for whomever can figure out a way to bring NHL hockey back to Arizona.

Meruelo will, however, keep control of the AHL team, the Tuscon Roadrunners, but will move them to Reno, NV, when their new arena is completed.

As for Arizona hockey fans, this could be deemed a sad day, but it is also a day that brings them joy. If they do get an NHL team back, but under new ownership.
