Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports - Coyotes Post Renderings for Potential North Phoenix Arena

On Tuesday, renderings of a potential Arizona Coyotes arena in north Phoenix were posted on the team app.

The pictures were on the team website for a brief amount of time before ultimately being taken down, but still showed on the team app on Wednesday.

The Arizona State Land Department Board of Appeals unanimously approved the $68.5 million appraisal of the 95 acres last week and the Coyotes are expected to be a potential bidder.

The land must be publicly advertised for 10 weeks before being put up for auction. It seems an auction is likely to take place at some point in June.

Commissioner Gary Bettman is hoping Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo can win this auction and finally end this long saga.

“Obviously, we want a new arena and we want the team in Arizona,” Bettman said via PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan. “Alex wants to win the auction to make that happen.”

Withstanding the results of this auction, the Coyotes are still expected to play at Mullett Arena for the 2024-25 season.
