The Arizona Coyotes reportedly have a pretty high asking price when it comes to a potential Jason Zucker trade.
According to The Fourth Periods’s David Pagnotta, the Coyotes are asking teams for as high as a second-round pick in exchange for Zucker’s services.
Pagnotta added that the Coyotes are willing to retain 50% of Zucker’s salary for this sort of return.
Whether or not Zucker actually goes for a second-rounder is yet to be seen, but general manager Bill Armstrong is not crazy for seeking top notch value considering the market that rental forwards hold.
According to Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek, The Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, Nashville Predators, Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils and Vegas Golden Knights have all expressed interest in Zucker.
With multiple teams reportedly interested in at least potentially trading for Zucker, it’s very possible that his trade value goes up to a second-round pick which is exactly what it seems the Coyotes want.
The 31-year-old is not only a player capable of providing a spark offensively, but he is a veteran who adds a sense of leadership to any given locker room.
This is a valuable trait for teams that are striving to make a deep playoff push, especially the young ones that don’t have very much postseason experience.
In 51 games this season, Zucker has nine goals, 16 assists and 25 points while playing 14:02 minutes per game.
Armstrong always seems to find the value in his players no matter what the circumstance is, so we will see if he can work his magic before Friday afternoon’s trade deadline.
