The Arizona Coyotes have agreed to a three-year contract extension with goaltender Connor Ingram at an average annual value of $1.95 million according to PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
The 26-year-old played 27 games for the Coyotes this past season holding a 6-13 record, 90.7 save percentage and 3.37 goals against average.
After his stint with the Nashville Predators through the 2021-22 season, Ingram was claimed off waivers by the Coyotes on Oct. 10, 2022.
Ingram will most likely serve as the backup to 27-year-old goaltender Karel Vejmelka. There will be pressure on Ingram to take some of the weight off Vejmelka’s shoulders.
It seems the role of backup goaltender has become more and more reliable in the NHL today. Ingram showed some promise during the 2022-23 campaign but will certainly be put to the test this year to see if he can improve upon his first season in Arizona.
