The Coyotes search for a new arena may be getting to its boiling point as the team is inching closer to finding a permanent home in Phoenix.

The Arizona Coyotes are getting awfully close to finding a new arena in the Valley.
According to PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan, the team is zeroing in on a parcel of land in northeast Phoenix, adjacent to Scottsdale.
This news comes just days following Morgan’s initial report that the Coyotes were looking to make an announcement regarding their arena search by the end of the calendar year.
While Mesa seemed like the destination that was gaining the most traction, Coyotes president and CEO Xavier Gutierrez never fully ruled out the possibility of moving the team to Phoenix.
The Coyotes actually played in Phoenix when the organization first arrived to the Valley from 1996-2003, sharing what was then called America West Arena with the Phoenix Suns.
With the team aiming to announce something by the calendar year, this announcement couldn’t come at a more perfect time as they seem to inch closer and closer to finding a permanent home.
Morgan’s Sunday report is probably really the biggest source of information to prove the Coyotes are indeed staying in Arizona since last season during their campaign to build a sports and entertainment district in Tempe which ultimately failed.
Time will tell to see what the Coyotes organization ultimately plans to do, but this is a major development in their continued search for a new arena.
