After playing two seasons at Quinnipiac University, Coyotes prospect Sam Lipkin is ready to take the next step in his career into professional hockey.

The Arizona Coyotes signed forward Sam Lipkin to a three-year, entry-level contract on Thursday.

The 21-year-old will report to the Tucson Roadrunners as they get set for the Calder Cup playoffs.

Lipkin has played with Quinnipiac University for the past two years. This past season he tallied 15 goals, 20 assists and 35 points in 39 games. The young forward also served as captain of the USHL's Chicago Steel during the 2021-22 season.

The Coyotes drafted Lipkin in the seventh round of the 2021 NHL Draft and general manager Bill Armstrong is excited to see what he can bring to the table.

“We are pleased to sign Sam Lipkin and have him join our organization,” Armstrong said. “Sam is a big, skilled, two-way forward who had a very successful college career. We look forward to continuing to watch his development.”

Lipkin won a National Championship and experienced some great times at Quinnipiac, but just felt it was his time to take the next step into professional hockey.

“I can't thank Quinnipiac enough. Coach Pecknold was nothing but great to me & my family and the whole university, from the athletic director to the president, was so great & kind to me,” Lipkin said via PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan.” My time at Quinnipiac was unbelievable & winning a national championship was a goal.

“There's definitely a lot of emotion taking the next step and leaving that place, but I'm super pumped up to be a Coyote.”
