The Arizona Coyotes organization continues to voice its commitment to staying in the Valley as the 2023-24 season vastly approaches.
Prior to the Coyotes final preseason game on Saturday afternoon in Tucson, Arizona, team president Xavier Gutierrez spoke to the media and further committed to the future in the Valley.
“Alex Meruelo is going to be at the game in a couple of minutes here and he'll tell you we have one vision, and that vision is how do we bring a Stanley Cup to the Valley,” Gutierrez said. “We've done everything to invest in building the foundation that we believe is going to lead us to what you see now is the fruits of that labor.”
The Coyotes are set to play at Mullett Arena once again next season but the organization has been clear that it's just a temporary solution while they are still invested in finding a permanent home in Arizona.
“It takes resources, right to create a temporary solution at Mullett Arena, to create this partnership with a broadcast partner and to allow us to share our games and our content as wide a reach as possible, so we're excited,” Gutierrez said. “We know we have a long way to go and obviously we're working hard for that permanent solution of an arena up there in Phoenix.”
Gary Bettman, the NHL commissioner, came out recently voicing his confidence in the Coyotes finding a new arena in the Valley and feels that time will come soon.
In the meantime, Arizona has the regular season to think about as the season opener is set for October 13 against the New Jersey Devils. The Coyotes first game at Mullett Arena will take place on October 21 against the Anaheim Ducks.
