Jack McBain has filed for salary arbitration after being unable to agree on a contract extension with the Arizona Coyotes.

Arizona Coyotes center Jack McBain has filed for salary arbitration according to the NHLPA.

In these instances, a third-party arbitrator helps negotiate a fair contract between the expiring restricted free agent and the team.

McBain had 12 goals, 14 assists and 26 points in 82 games for the Coyotes this past season. At only 23-years-old, McBain is a valuable piece for Arizona to retain on their roster.

Some other players around the NHL that have filed for arbitration include Ross Colton, Filip Gustavsson, Troy Terry and Ilya Samsonov.

This is most likely just a small hiccup in the road for McBain and the Coyotes organization as the young center should still be in Arizona come next season.

Arbitration hearings are scheduled to be held from July 20 to August 4.
