Arizona sports is cursed when it comes to arena and stadium drama as both the Diamondbacks and Coyotes are currently dealing with their own unique dilemmas.

The Arizona Coyotes are not the only team in the Valley with arena issues.

The Coyotes’ search for a new arena has made multiple headlines for what seems like forever now, but now the Arizona Diamondbacks are dealing with some problems of their own.

As the Diamondbacks want to make renovations at Chase Field in Phoenix that will cost around $400-500 million, team managing partner Ken Kendrick made an interesting statement.

"There is likely to be, in time, an expansion of our sport to a couple of additional cities. Cities are letting MLB know their interest; their interest in getting a team is specific. They would be happy with a brand-new franchise, but they would certainly be very happy, you know, with, frankly, a successful, existing franchise," Kendrick said via CBS Sports.

“It's not where we are spending time or energy. We may run out of time in Phoenix. We hope that won't happen. We're hard at it; we're continuing to have meetings. We've ramped up the dialogue in every way that we know how and we'll continue to do that.”

While the Diamondbacks are willing to spend ‘hundreds of millions’ of its own money, the organization’s inability to secure public funding to renovate Chase Field has frustrated them.

This all comes a few months after the Diamondbacks were competing in the World Series which makes these statements even more surprising.

Similar to the Coyotes’ situation, there is no indication that the Diamondbacks will move out of Arizona. It just seems they are putting pressure on the city to get these renovations completed.
