The March 8 NHL Trade Deadline is vastly approaching.
With the Arizona Coyotes on an 11-game losing streak and continuing to falter in the Western Conference standings, they will most likely be sellers once the trade deadline comes around.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the Colorado Avalanche and Coyotes may be good partners in a potential trade.
“Colorado’s search for a centre may take the Avs through Arizona. They know Alex Kerfoot, and could also consider Nick Bjugstad. Another Coyote name to watch is Michael Carcone, who was red-hot earlier in the season. He’s got 15 goals.”
It’s unclear who may actually be available from the Coyotes at the trade deadline, but it may be in their best interest to continue building for the future and accumulating young assets.
Both Kerfoot and Bjugstad signed two-year contracts with the Coyotes this past offseason and have served critical roles as two-way forwards.
Kerfoot has eight goals 24 goals, 32 points in 56 games while Bjugstad has 12 goals, 18 assists and 30 points.
In his first full season with the Coyotes, Carcone has been a pleasant surprise. He started the season red-hot, but has since slowed down offensively. In 49 games, the 27-year-old forward has 15 goals, five assists and 20 points.
As the trade deadline gets closer, there will be many more rumors regarding the Coyotes in what should be a hectic time of the organization.
