Former Arizona Coyotes defenseman Michael Stone officially announced his retirement from the NHL on Wednesday.
Stone played a total of 12 seasons in the NHL with both the Coyotes and Calgary Flames where he had 41 goals, 104 assists and 145 points.
The Coyotes drafted Stone in the third round with the 69th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft. He played 324 games for the Coyotes from 2011-2017 tallying 17 goals, 32 assists and 49 points.
He was ultimately traded to Calgary at the 2016-17 trade deadline where he spent the rest of his career.
Despite ending his playing days, Stone will remain around the NHL community as he is expected to join the Flames player development team.
"I'm excited to learn and gain some new experiences in a different capacity in the NHL," Stone said. "I'm looking forward to working with the young defencemen and help them achieve their ultimate goal of playing with the Calgary Flames."
