The Anaheim Ducks signed former Arizona Coyotes forward Zack Kassian to a professional tryout on Thursday.
Last offseason, Kassian was traded to the Coyotes from the Edmonton Oilers in a deal that involved draft picks.
The 32-year-old played 51 games for Arizona this past season where he had two goals while ranking fifth on the team in penalty minutes.
Earlier this summer the Coyotes bought out the final year of Kassian’s contract, which carried a cap hit of $3.2 million.
Through his 12-year career, Kassian has played for the Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks, Buffalo Sabers and Coyotes. He has tallied a total of 92 goals, 111 assists and 203 points in 661 career games.
Kassian is known to be a tough guy and enforcer. Having an enforcer is still important for teams in the NHL today. Now Kassian will have the opportunity to show why he can be valuable for the Ducks during training camp as he tries to secure a roster spot.
