Former Arizona Coyotes goaltender Antti Raanta has officially been placed on waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes.
Raanta played with the Coyotes from 2017-2021 where he posted a 46-42-11 record, 2.57 GAA and .921 SV%.
His tenure in Arizona ended when Raanta signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Carolina Hurricanes in the summer of 2021.
Through the past two previous seasons, Raanta has been valuable for the Hurricanes, playing a 1B type of role alongside Frederik Andersen while starting in multiple playoff games.
During his tenure in Carolina, Raanta had a 40-13-8 record, 2.59 GAA and .901 SV%, but has struggled through the start of this season which lead to his release.
At 34-years-old, Raanta has still proven to be an effective goalie in the NHL and should generate interest from multiple teams still searching for solid goaltending.
The release of Raanta will shake up the goaltending market as we approach a little bit closer to the trade deadline which takes place on March 8.
