One of the most experienced teams in the Eastern Conference will go up against one of the Western Conference's youngest teams.

The New York Islanders had their moment in the sun through the late part of the 2010s, starting when former captain John Tavares ended a 23-year drought of playoff series wins.

They're starting to rise again behind the star power of Mathew Barzal, who has already tallied 442 total points in his seven full NHL seasons.

While they still have Anders Lee captaining the team, along with stalwarts like Casey Cizikas and Brock Nelson, head coach Patrick Roy has allowed this team to take the next step after the mid-season firing of Lane Lambert.

The skill of this Islanders' team will be a big test for the Utah defence, who had some trouble defending in front of Connor Ingram last year.

But with the additions of physicality on the blue line, plus some in the forwards department, it could very well turn these games into a bruising battle.

That means it could be a matter of whose transition games execute cleanly, as we'll see in matchups against Colorado and Vegas.

The experienced forwards like Barzal and Nelson et al. might tip the scales a bit in favor of the Islanders, but Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley may have something to say about that.

It'd be exciting to see those two superstars -- Barzal and Keller -- battle against each other on the ice, and it'll make for an interesting matchup overall.
