We get a look at another Original Six vs. Expansion Era matchup.

Training camp opens in less than 48 hours for the Utah Hockey Club as rookies report, so that means time to break down the final four teams the squad will face this season.

We start with one of the most-scrutinized teams in the league, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Of course, everyone knows by now Mitch Marner has been the subject of trade rumors for the better part of the last couple of years, and Utah has been speculated to be on the radar.

Aside from that, the Leafs have the most amount of talent that is front-loaded to make a run for the Stanley Cup.

The biggest move they've made, however, was on the bench; Sheldon Keefe was fired a couple weeks after the Leafs lost in the first round of the playoffs, bringing in Craig Berube, who Utah general manager Bill Armstrong is very familiar with.

Berube was the interim head coach who led the Blues to the Stanley Cup in 2019, where Armstrong was the assistant GM at the time in St. Louis.

The question is then what Berube's playing style is going to be.

Sure, Auston Matthews will get his goals, and John Tavares will still be a viable secondary scoring option.

But will they get physical? Will they speed and score?

In Philadelphia, they tended to do the latter under Berube, while in St. Louis, the Blues embraced the ground-and-pound style.

To know how well these two teams match up, the only way to see will be watching the Leafs in the pre-season.

The talent is certainly there, but how will all gel together under a new regime that is clearly in "Cup or bust" mode is the going to be interesting to see.
