Training camp is just over a month away, and we start our countdown by previewing first the roster and potential lineups.
The wait is almost over.
The Utah Hockey Club will be taking the ice in just over three months for its first regular-season game against the Chicago Blackhawks.
But before that, the season begins with pre-season, which commences on September 22 in Des Moines, Iowa, versus the St. Louis Blues.
That means at the end of pre-season, we’ll know who’s on the opening night roster for head coach Andre Tourigny, but NHL.com already laid out their predictions.

This looks pretty accurate for next season; it includes the new additions of Kevin Stenlund, John Marino, Mikhail Sergachev, and Ian Cole.
One omission is Liam O’Brien, who signed a three-year extension in mid-June.
My guess is O’Brien will be used interchangeably on the fourth line with Jack McBain, and that could bump Kevin Stenlund or Alex Kerfoot up to the third line.
The defense pairings look pretty set, however; and Sergachev is likely to anchor the top power play unit.
Of course, a lot can change between now and October 8, and with the recent additions of Tij Iginla and Cole Beaudoin to entry-level deals, they could also be in the mix.
