The high-flying Jets will bring a high-powered offence to town against the Utah Hockey Club.

A couple months ago, when the Utah Hockey Club released their uniforms, I suggested if the team made the playoffs, they should encourage the fans to wear black.

It would evoke memories of a certain team who would decorate the arenas they played in with white, whether in Winnipeg or in Arizona.

The new Winnipeg Jets have kept that tradition alive to create the most intimidating playoff environment in the NHL, and while Utah won't deal with that during the regular season, they will get a taste of what's to come from their central Canadian division rivals in the form of the conference's most prolific offence.

Scott Arniel, a special teams mastermind, will take over the reins from the retired Rick Bowness in 2024-25, and he's got plenty of firepower in his stock.

Mark Scheifele scored 25 goals, part of his 72-point season, and Nikolaj Ehlers added 25 more goals for the Jets.

This team is also notably physical; Dylan DeMelo and Adam Lowry are two names that can score and also throw their weight around.

While they may not jump off the page with their strength as much as Colorado or Nashville, Winnipeg certainly boasts the most skill on offence, which can rival even Minnesota's.

I wouldn't expect much of a change in the Jets' identity; Utah fans can still expect plenty of offensive fireworks.

However, the Jets may not have done enough to beef up their physicality the last few years; that could prove to be the difference when Utah faces off with them.
