Through the Arizona Coyotes three games at the Rookie Faceoff in Vegas, Josh Doan showed flashes of his father Shane Doan
Josh was phenomenal leading the Coyotes with four goals, three assists and seven points. Arizona finished the weekend off with a 2-0-1 record.
Just like when his father played for the Coyotes, Josh wore the C on his chest representing the team’s rookies as the captain which seems to be a common theme for the Doan family.
Josh was also the captain of the Arizona State Sun Devils last season. He played 39 games for the Sun Devils this past year where he had 16 goals, 22 assists and 38 points.
Arizona’s 2021 second-round pick signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Coyotes on March 16 and joined the team’s AHL affiliate the Tucson Roadrunners for 14 games tallying three goals, three assists and six points.
Josh is expected to play with the Roadrunners this upcoming season as he continues to develop his game even further.
The 21-year-old’s performance at the Rookie Faceoff shows what sort of potential he may have once he ultimately enters the NHL. Josh performed at a high level playing amongst the rest of the Coyotes top prospects proving that he very well could follow in his father’s footsteps and be a crucial piece for Arizona in the future.
