Have a big sigh of relief Mammoth fans, Karel Vejmelka is back on the ice.
After a surprising stint on injured reserve with an upper body injury, Vejmelka is now starting in Utah's game against the New York Islanders
Missing in the Mammoth’s last two games, Utah had mixed results at the goal front playing backup goalie Vitek Vanecek. He started off strong, only giving up one goal to the Colorado Avalanche, a game in which Utah eventually lost 1–0.
But in Utah’s 4–3 loss to Nashville, Vanecek also struggled to make timely saves when the Mammoth held on to three separate leads in that game.
Still, Vanecek came away with an 0–2 record while Vejmelka was away and has yet to get a win since Oct. 26. Though it was an encouraging sign to see him hold the league-best Avalanche to one goal on a day where Vejmelka was looking to start before his surprise injury.
But if the Mammoth want to play into a playoff position, it needs to have its starting goalie healthy
