Arizona Coyotes goaltender Connor Ingram is starting to not only gain recognition from people in Arizona but he is getting attention nationally.
Ingram has really become one of the biggest feel good stories in the NHL to start the season. He has elevated the Coyotes to playoff status, holding a 11-3 record, 2.23 GAA and .930 SV% to go along with two shutouts.
It’s truly been remarkable to watch Ingram perform at this level as he continues to propel the Coyotes to places that not many believed this team could get to.
Ingram is no longer a secret and notable hockey TV personalities are now starting to take note of his game and admiring what this 26-year-old goalie has been able to accomplish.
“The most underrated story in the National Hockey League this year is easily and underrated Connor Ingram and the Arizona Coyotes, specifically Ingram too,” Kevin Weekes said via twitter. “He’s been absolute money for the Coyotes this year. What a year for him, what a season. I got him among my top, top tier Vezina Trophy candidates for what he has done up to this point. He’s been lights out in the desert.”
For Weekes to come out and say Ingram so far is a top Vezina Trophy candidate shows the high level he has been playing at.
The Coyotes are currently on a five game winning streak where Ingram has started all five matchups which helped earn him NHL first star of the week.
It may be a short sample size but we haven't seen a Coyotes goaltender play so dominant and garner all this attention since Mike Smith played in the Valley.
As of now Ingram is playing at an All-Star caliber level. That could change since it’s a long season, but he should continue to get praise and recognition until his performance on the ice says otherwise.
