After some speculation regarding Logan Cooley's plan for this upcoming season, there is now reportedly momentum towards the 19-year-old signing his entry level contract with the Arizona Coyotes.

According to PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan, there is momentum toward Logan Cooley signing his entry level contract with the Arizona Coyotes.

The 19-year-old center previously stated that his plan was to return to the University of Minnesota for his sophomore season but did not close the door entirely on making the jump into the NHL.

“There’s still some things I want to accomplish in college before I make the step to the NHL,” Cooley said in an interview with Morgan earlier this month. "I’d say the arena played a little factor, but it wasn’t do or die like I’m not coming or anything like that.”

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said that he’d be “very surprised” if Cooley does not sign with Arizona over the next 24-48 hours.

Cooley was drafted by the Coyotes with the third overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. He played for the University of Minnesota this past season where he had 22 goals, 38 assists and 60 points in 39 games.
