Arizona Coyotes forward Matias Maccelli was one of six players to be named to the 2022-23 NHL All-Rookie Team.

Coyotes forward Matias Maccelli was named to the 2022-23 NHL All-Rookie Team on Monday.
The 22-year-old had 11 goals, 38 assists and 49 points in 64 games. While Maccelli played 24 games for the Coyotes during the 2021-22 campaign, he really showed off his true potential this past season.
"Coming off 20 games last season, and playing the way I played, I probably surprised a lot of people," Maccelli said via Coyotes team reporter Patrick Brown. "I just came into camp wanting to make the team with no expectation -- that was the only goal. I made the team and slowly started to gain more confidence with the things I did on the ice, and I ended up with a really good season."
Maccelli was a top-six forward for Arizona and played a major role on the team’s powerplay this past season. He was drafted by the Coyotes in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Draft and played in Liiga for two seasons before arriving in Arizona.
The other members of the NHL All-Rookie Team include Matty Beniers, Owen Power, Stuart Skinner, Wyatt Johnston and Jake Sanderson.
This is just the first step for Maccelli as he still has more room to develop and become the best possible player he can be.
