The chaos came fast—and it didn’t stop until the very end.

Utah found its breakthrough moment Tuesday night, as Clayton Keller buried a power play winner just 33 seconds into overtime to secure a wild 6–5 victory over Edmonton. In a game that swung wildly from start to finish, the Mammoth finally broke through for their first win against the Oilers—and did it in dramatic fashion.

Utah struck almost immediately, with JJ Peterka finishing a crisp setup from Ian Cole less than two minutes into the game. But any early momentum was quickly erased. Edmonton answered just 11 seconds later when Curtis Lazar danced through traffic and slipped a backhand past Karel Vejmelka.

From there, the Oilers took control of the period. Connor McDavid capitalized on the power play midway through the frame, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins added another late to give Edmonton a two-goal cushion after one.

Utah didn’t flinch.

Nick Schmaltz took over in the second period, scoring twice to erase the deficit and completely flip the energy in the building. Logan Cooley added another as the Mammoth surged ahead, only for Vasily Podkolzin to respond late in the period—sending the game into the third tied at four.

The Oilers regained the lead early in the third when Colton Dach pounced on a loose puck off a blocked shot and buried the rebound. It looked, briefly, like that might be enough.

But Utah kept pushing.

With just over seven minutes remaining, Alexander Kerfoot found open ice and redirected a long feed from Sean Durzi to tie the game at five, forcing overtime and setting up Keller’s heroics.

Karel Vejmelka turned aside 21 shots for Utah, while Tristan Jarry made 25 saves in the loss for Edmonton.

Utah’s ability to respond—again and again—was the defining theme of the night. And now, with momentum building at the right time, their path toward a postseason berth is starting to feel less like a long shot and more like an increasingly realistic outcome.
