The Mammoth added five more prospects on Saturday, headlined by Michigan forward Adam Valentini and Swedish goaltender Carl Axelsson to round out their 2026 NHL Draft class.
The Utah Mammoth continued to add to their prospect pipeline on Saturday, making five selections over the final six rounds of the 2026 NHL Draft after addressing their biggest need with a first-round defenseman on Friday.
The group features a balanced mix of skill, size and upside, highlighted by a productive NCAA forward, a towering Swedish goaltender and several players with international experience.
Utah's first selection of the day came in the third round at No. 96 overall, where the Mammoth drafted University of Michigan forward Adam Valentini.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward enjoyed a productive freshman campaign with the Wolverines, recording 11 goals and 27 points in 40 games while helping Michigan capture the Big Ten championship. Before arriving in the NCAA, Valentini led the Chicago Steel in scoring during the 2024-25 USHL season with 39 points in 58 games.
Internationally, Valentini has consistently been a leader for Canada. He served as an alternate captain at both the 2026 IIHF Under-18 World Championship and the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, collecting five points at each tournament. He also led the 2024 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge in scoring with nine points as Canada White captured the gold medal.
With the 115th overall pick in the fourth round, Utah selected Swedish goaltender Carl Axelsson from the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks.
The 6-foot-4 netminder posted a 28-14-1 record with a 2.48 goals-against average and .916 save percentage in 44 games this season. His breakout followed an impressive stint with the NAHL's Austin Bruins in 2024-25, where he recorded a 1.74 goals-against average, .937 save percentage and six shutouts in 19 appearances. Axelsson is committed to the University of Minnesota Duluth for the 2026-27 season.
Utah returned to the blue line in the fifth round, selecting defenseman Theodor Knights with the 130th overall pick.
The 6-foot-4, 207-pound defenseman spent the season with MoDo's junior team in Sweden and has already represented his country internationally, winning silver at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and bronze at the 2025 World Junior A Challenge.
Later in the fifth round, the Mammoth selected Sherbrooke Phoenix forward Florent Houle with the 147th overall pick.
Houle finished second on the team with 19 goals and fourth with 41 points in 52 regular-season games before leading the Phoenix with five goals during the QMJHL playoffs.
Utah closed out its draft by selecting forward Artem Prima with the 211th overall pick.
Prima split last season between the NAHL's Minot Minotauros and the USHL's Omaha Lancers, combining for 40 points in 45 games before becoming the Mammoth's final selection of the 2026 draft.
