Since suffering a torn labrum last year, Maveric Lamoureux's path back to the ice has not been easy but has been able to overcome many obstacles to get to where he is now.

It has been a long and difficult road over the past year for the Arizona Coyotes 2022 29th overall pick Maveric Lamoureux but the young defenseman is now feeling better than ever.

Lamoureux underwent shoulder surgery last year to repair a torn labrum and remove some bone pieces. He went through a traitorous rehab process that was hard for Lamoureux at times but has ultimately made him stronger.

“It was a long process,” Lamoureux said. “It was really long, I had some hard times to but for right now I just feel really good. Like it's (his injured shoulder) even stronger than the other one, so everything's perfect with my shoulder now.”

The 19-year-old is happy to be on the ice with the rest of the Coyotes top prospects as opposed to watching them from behind the glass.

“Feels amazing, to see I was watching all week long last year so just finally skating with the guys just like just playing today just feels amazing, just it's so fun,” Lamoureux said.

Lamoureux has a ton of potential as he stands at a staggering 6-foot-7. He knows that he can’t take this time around Coyotes coaches and staff members for granted and needs to use it to develop into an NHL-caliber player.

“It was definitely way less stressful than last year just like seeing everyone,” Lamoureux said. “What I'm going to take away is just like the little steps I still got to improve on my game like to play at the NHL level, there's still a lot of things I got to work on and just being here today with all the coaches, the staff, Lars, the skills coach, like Cal just I need to take so much from them and just like learn from that and be even better when I'm gonna come back after.”

Lamoureux is expected to play for the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the QMJHL next season. While his journey won’t get any easier, Lamoureux has overcome so much and is on the right path to make it to the NHL and play for the Coyotes in the future.
