The 20-year-old rookie scored his first NHL goal last night in the rout of Calgary, but he wants to continue to grow into his new role.

When you score your first NHL goal, it's always something to remember.

If you're 20-year-old rookie defenceman Maveric Lamoureux, then you're probably still trying process it.

"I just felt like the puck was going in slowly," he said. "When it finally went in, a lot of emotions just flooded through me."

Lamoureux's first goal was just one of many emotions Utah Hockey Club got to feel in their slump-busting 5-1 domination of the Calgary Flames last night at Delta Center, but that feeling didn't last for very long.

In fact, Lamoureux said he went straight back to the hotel because he was so exhausted after last night's game; thus, he had no time to celebrate with his teammates.

"I was too busy celebrating with the guys to even pick up the puck," he added. "I wasn't even thinking about that."

That's been part of the growing process the 20-year-old has gone through after making his NHL debut last week against the Colorado Avalanche; Lamoureux has made a tremendous impact on the blue line that has desperately needed it after losing Sean Durzi and John Marino to injuries.

"It's been a little bit of everything (that's helped me learn)," he said. "Especially playing with Colesy (Ian Cole), it helps a lot; he's always talking."

Now, Lamoureux wants to keep doing what he's doing heading into another stiff test for the club against I-15 rival Vegas on Saturday.

"It definitely felt good; it was nice to finally win," he said. "I feel like I'm just building my game based on (the win) and getting more comfortable."
