The Coyotes’ pursuit of land in north Phoenix is officially on the Arizona State Land Department Board of Appeals' final agenda for March 14.

According to PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan, the Arizona Coyotes’ pursuit of land in north Phoenix is officially on the Arizona State Land Department Board of Appeals' final agenda for March 14.

Morgan reported back in February that the land auction would most definitely be set for March 14 with the actual auction likely taking place in June.

Early on in February, Coyotes president and CEO Xavier Gutierrez confirmed that the organization is moving forward with a plan to buy state trust land in north Phoenix.

The Coyotes planned to build a sports and entertainment district in Tempe, but they lost a special election vote last May leading the team to shift gears.

Gutierrez has been clear that the Coyotes will avoid any plan that involves a public referendum and it looks like their hope is to secure a new arena in Arizona through an auction.

While the auction won’t take place right away, this report is certainly a positive sign in regards to Coyotes’ search for a permanent home in the Valley.
