The Coyotes remain committed to finding a permanent home in Arizona with their future still remaining unclear.

Where will the Arizona Coyotes play in the future?
That question is still unknown but NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly provided an update on the Coyotes current search for a permanent home.
“I don’t think the timeline has changed. We get regularly updated by (president and CEO) Xavier Gutierrez with respect to the status of their discussions on various things, and (owner) Alex Meruelo,” Daly said via The Athletic’s Michael Russo. “They’re committed to finding a place in Arizona and making it work there. They continue to be optimistic about their ability to do so.
I think what you saw last week or the week before, whenever, it was part of that overall plan. And I think there’ll be other things that come down the road that will tell you whether they’re making real progress or whether they’re not. But I expect that to continue to be an evolving situation. All I can say is they remain optimistic and confident, and so we get our information from the Coyotes.”
The Coyotes originally planned to build a sports and entertainment district in Tempe that would have included a 16,000 seat arena but the proposal was rejected in a special election vote on May 16.
Both the Coyotes organization and the NHL have made it clear that staying in Arizona is a priority.
Earlier this month, Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo put in a letter of intent to purchase a parcel of land in northwest Mesa to potentially build a new sports arena and entertainment district for the franchise, a major step in finding a new home in the Valley.
“The Coyotes remain committed to building the first privately funded sports facility in Arizona history and ensuring the Valley as the Club's permanent home,” the Coyotes said in a statement earlier this month. “In addition to this property in Mesa, the Club will continue to explore other potential sites in the East Valley.”
While the future is unclear for the Coyotes, all signs seem to be pointing that the team will remain in Arizona.
