The Smith Entertainment Group announced a capital investment Wednesday to help turn the Olympic Oval in Kearns into the club's home for practices in 2024-25.

The "Fastest Ice on Earth" just got faster.

In a press release Wednesday, the Smith Entertainment Group announced a new partnership with the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation that would turn the Olympic Oval into Utah Hockey Club's practice facility for their inaugural season.

The press release notes the upgrades are "currently underway", which include a new sheet of ice to meet NHL regulations, additions of offices for Utah HC coaches and personnel, and building out appropriate treatment facilities.

It will also provide for future opportunities for youth and Olympic hopefuls after the team leaves the facility and moves to its permanent home in Sandy, SEG added in the press release.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation so our players and staff have a world-class practice facility at the Olympic Oval facility for our first season,” president of hockey operations Chris Armstrong said.

“Welcoming Utah Hockey Club to the Utah Olympic Oval is yet another shining example of how our Olympic legacy efforts are helping to train athletes of all ability levels, from youth beginners to world-class athletes,” Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation president Chris Hilton said.
