Clayton Keller suffered an upper-body injury during the Coyotes' Sunday night matchup against the Jets, but the extent of his injury is unclear.

Arizona Coyotes forward Clayton Keller exited Sunday night’s game against the Winnipeg Jets with an apparent upper-body injury.

Keller left the game in the second period and ultimately did not return as the Coyotes lost 4-3 in overtime.

It’s actually unclear what exactly caused this injury and coach André Tourigny didn’t provide very many details during his postgame press conference.

“No, I don’t know,” Tourigny said on Keller’s status. “Upper-body, but I don’t know how long it will be. I don’t have an update.”

The 25-year-old forward is having yet another phenomenal season. In 57 games, Keller has 22 goals, 30 assists and 52 points.

If Keller is out for any significant period of time, it would be detrimental for the Coyotes moving forward.

Keller serves a valuable role as the team’s main offensive threat. He plays on both the first line and power play unit, so he really does hold a lot of weight in the lineup.

The Coyotes are in the midst of a 12-game losing streak with playoffs looking more and more unlikely.

Keller’s absence will certainly hinder Arizona’s playoff hopes even further, but there should be more clarity on his injury soon.
