The Utah Hockey Club, along with the Smith Entertainment Group, revealed the announcers for its inaugural season Wednesday in a press release, piloted by Matt McConnell, who was the TV voice for the Arizona Coyotes, answering questions about whether some of the teams' former announcers would be retained.
McConnell, entering his 29th season as an NHL play-by-play announcer, will be joined by former ESPN and NBC analyst Dominic Moore, who will provide color commentary from in the booth, between the benches, and in the studio, the club announced in its press release.
Nick Olczyk, son of former NHL forward and Stanley Cup winner Eddie Olczyk, will rotate with Moore on color commentary from the booth and bench, along with studio analyst duties.
Meanwhile, Kim Becker, who recently hosted the Colorado Avalanche pre- and post-game shows on Altitude, will be the lead studio host, joined by former Bally Sports reporter Sarah Merrifield.
These decisions were led by Travis Henderson, senior vice president of broadcasting for SEG, who chose individuals that "not only excel on their own but also complement one another".
"We are thrilled to bring together this talented and experienced team of broadcasters for Utah Hockey Club, who will undoubtedly provide the best possible experience for all fans,” Utah HC president Chris Armstrong said.
“We are confident that their expertise and passion will elevate the viewing experience and help us to build a strong and passionate fanbase.”
