The ice crew auditions Saturday provided media the first look at the additions to the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns.

The focus was on the ice Saturday at Kearns Olympic Oval, but something else caught people's eye.

Everyone knows by now the Oval will be the home for the Utah Hockey Club for their inaugural season, as announced in mid-June.

The renovations were in top shape Saturday as the media got the first look at the additional structures inside the Oval, which included the office buildings, temporary bleachers and hockey rink on the south sheet.

The new rink constructed on the South Sheet at the Olympic Oval with temporary bleachers on the opposite side.

David Piper, a member of the Utah HC public relations team who was on-site with vice president of marketing Lisa Nilchian Saturday, said once the structures are completed, the media will be allowed to take a tour.

"I trust what Ryan and Ashley (Smith) are doing," Nilchian said. "It's really humbling to be a part of something this special."
