The 32-year-old defenceman is still searching for a new home ahead of the upcoming season.

Even though the Utah Hockey Club already has some potent two-way weapons on the blue line, you can never have enough of them.

That also means much to the family ties on the squad, with the sons of Hall of Famers Shane Doan and Jarome Iginla playing together, too.

Enter one Tyson Barrie, the son of NHL player and current Tampa Bay Lightning co-owner Len Barrie, who is coming off a two-year tenure with the Nashville Predators.

Originally taken by the Colorado Avalanche, Barrie has become one of the best two-way defencemen in the league, scoring ten-plus goals in every season except three with the Avs.

After spending a year with the Maple Leafs, Barrie joined the Edmonton Oilers for three seasons, putting up 28 power-play points in 2022-23 for one of the best offences in the league.

The Victoria, British Columbia, native then was traded to the Nashville Predators midway through the same season as part of a shift in the Oilers from a fast-paced, high-tempo, goal-scoring team to a physical, grinding, blue-collar style of play.

Barrie will be coming off an injury that sidelined him for half of the 2023-24 season, landing the blue-liner on long-term injured reserve; he did return for one game in the playoffs for Andrew Brunette against Vancouver.

Fans in Colorado and the league know how good Barrie can be when he's healthy, and his presence would give a boost to the scoring and overall depth of the Utah Hockey Club.
