If we know anything about the Smith Entertainment Group, they listen to their fans.
One of the longest-heard pleas was for the Utah Jazz to rid themselves of the highlighter yellow and black color palette, and Ryan Smith obliged Wednesday by bringing back the purple, black, blue, and white scheme of the late 80s and 90s, complete with the Wasatch Mountain Range on the jerseys.
It also brings to mind the leak of the Utah NHL team's possible placeholder logo Monday, where it seemed SEG was going with a predominantly powder blue, black, and white scheme.
It makes you think: if SEG adds a sprinkle of purple in there, it would be almost verbatim the colors of the Jazz.
What also is interesting is how the Jazz are rebranding themselves as "Mountain Basketball".
With the Utah NHL team situated at the foot of Mount Olympus deep in the Salt Lake Valley, it also seems the mascot name is becoming clearer, too.
Even as Ryan Smith tries to keep the name vote a secret, he did leak out two possible names: Yeti and Mammoth.
This makes you wonder: is Blizzard part of the final four? What about Glaciers? The Squall? The Powder?
Freeze and Frost are viable options, along with Caribou and Mountaineers.
It's clear Utah wants to be known as a winter sports state based in the mountains, and the Jazz rebranding was the first step.
Now it's only a matter of time before the NHL team follows suit.
