The Utah Hockey Club inked its first-ever draft pick to his entry-level contract Thursday.

Hockey Hall of Famers Jarome Iginla and Shane Doan never got to play together in the NHL, despite being the closest of friends.

Their sons will now have a chance to live out their dream.

The Utah Hockey Club made that a reality Thursday by signing no. 6 overall pick Tij Iginla to an entry-level contract, the terms of which were not disclosed by the club in its news release.

In signing Iginla, it also ensures he will be reunited with his former Seattle Thunderbirds' teammate Dylan Guenther.

As a 16-year old with the Thunderbirds, Iginla put up 18 points in 48 appearances, leading Seattle to the WHL championship.

However, Iginla had his best season this past year, scoring 47 goals in 64 games, totaling 84 points for the Kelowna Rockets.

Iginla also got to strut his stuff at prospect camp last week, where his speed and quick shot release was on full display.

With Iginla signed, the prospect pool for Utah grows larger, especially after the additions of Artem Duda, Julian Lutz, and Noel Nordh, among others.
