Travis Dermott made a statement on Saturday by using Pride Tape during the Coyotes matchup against the Ducks.

Arizona Coyotes defenceman Travis Dermott showed his support for the LGBTQ+ community during Saturday afternoon’s game against the Anaheim Ducks as he was spotted with Pride Tape on the shaft of his hockey stick.

Dermott has been one of the spokesmen in the NHL for LBGTQ+ issues. The 26-year-old has repped pride colors in the past.

Specifically, back in February, he showed support for the Pride movement by wearing rainbow shoes and posting it on his social media which the NHL publicly endorsed.

“Travis continues to be a courageous leader in LGBTQ+ allyship,” Brian Burke wrote on ‘X’. “I hope other players follow his example.”

Prior to the start of the season, the NHL banned players from using pride tape which caused quite an uproar.

Regarding Dermott’s situation, the NHL reportedly told The Athletic in a statement that “We will review it in due course.”

Time will tell to see what the NHL decides to do with Dermott and the response from players around the league to Dermott’s statement.
