    Travis Dermott scored his first goal of the season in the Coyotes' Thursday night matchup against the Canucks on Pride Night which was a moment that meant the world to him.

    Arizona Coyotes defenseman Travis Dermott scored his first goal of the season on Thursday night against the Vancouver Canucks in what was a special moment.

    This was more than just any ordinary goal.

    Dermott happened to score his first goal of the year against his former team. Dermott spent two seasons with the Canucks He was battling with injuries that sidelined him for the majority of his time there.

    Not only did he score against his former team, but it also was Pride Night in Vancouver, a movement that Dermott is very passionate about.

    “The Pride stuff obviously meant a lot to me throughout the season, so happy to be able to be here on my old team's Pride Night in their barn,” Dermott said. “That's a little something special for me.”

    On October 21 in a game against the Anaheim Ducks, Dermott decided to use Pride Tape on the shaft of his hockey stick to show support for the LGBTQ+ community.

    Despite a ban on Pride Tape, Dermott took it upon himself to be the voice for LGBTQ+ community in the hockey world.

    Shortly after Dermott decided to do this, the NHL reversed their initial ban showing the sort of impact that he made by making this statement.

    It all comes full circle now with Dermott scoring a goal on Pride Night. Hockey is more than just a game and these kinds of moments truly encapsulate that.
