Travis Dermott suffered an upper-body injury during the Arizona Coyotes’ Sunday afternoon win against the San Jose Sharks.
Dermott left the game in the second period and ultimately did not return.
In 50 games this season, the 27-year-old defenseman has two goals, five assists and seven points while averaging 17:16 minutes per game.
His status for Tuesday night’s game against the Seattle Kraken is still unclear, but the Coyotes recalled defenseman Maksymilian Szuber from the Tucson Roadrunners on emergency basis, leading to some questions on Dermott’s status.
In 67 games with the Roadrunners, Szuber has six goals, 18 assists and 24 points and if he indeed plays in replacement of Dermott, it would be the 21-year-old’s first taste of NHL action.
