Utah social media was set ablaze by Wednesday's announcement the Winter Olympics would be in Salt Lake City again.
Thousands in Washington Square celebrated as Salt Lake City was awarded the 2034 Winter Olympics Wednesday morning.
A delegation led by Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox at the Paris Congress Centre also celebrated, hands held and heads high.
But many millions more who lived through Salt Lake 2002 set social media ablaze as the International Olympic Committee made its official announcement.
Even after Utahns had to hear IOC members air out over an hour of complaints about possible infringements of the United States Department of Justice in any potential doping cases -- along with a threat to terminate hosting rights should any more interference occur -- there was nothing to stop the celebrations that unfolded when the announcement was made.
Not to be outdone, congratulations even came in from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the dominant faith in Utah, and who houses their international headquarters in Salt Lake at world-famous Temple Square.
A statement from the First Presidency, the Church's highest governing body, said they "stand ready to support the 2034 Olympic Games in welcoming athletes, volunteers, and visitors from around the world."
They will certainly have something to look forward to as the massive renovation and seismic upgrade of the Church's most iconic landmark, anchored by the 131-year-old Salt Lake Temple, is expected to be finished in 2026.
From all the reactions, you can tell Utahns are just waiting for it to be 2034 already, even as Paris 2024 is set to begin in just over 12 hours with what's sure to be an iconic opening ceremony.
Like I said, all that's left is to pick a name for the Utah Hockey Club.
